Located in Tara's Shevchenko Park is this superb monument to Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko who was a Ukrainian poet,writer, artist, politician and a renowned folklorist and enthnographer ,born in the Ukraine in 1814 and passed away in St Petersburg in Russia in 1861 ,the statue is huge,well detailed and dominates the park that is dedicated to him,such is his renown that one of the main boulevards in Kiev namely Tarasa Shevchenko Boulevard is named after him,a superb statue and monument in a beautiful park and most definitely well worth checking out if your in Shevchenko Park.

ウクライナに滞在していると、この方の名前をしばしば耳にします。なのでここで面と向き合ったとき、なんとなくご挨拶したい気分になりました。

キエフ大学前の公園にある像です。大学名も大通り名も公園も、皆この名がついています。文学者としてウクライナ語文学創設者です。ウクライナ全土だけでなく、世界各国この方の像が設けられています。計り知れない業績があるようです。

Памятник украинскому поэту Тарасу Григорьевичу Шевченко установлен в 1939 году и выполнен из бронзы в честь 125 летия рождения. Ранее на этом месте находился памятник Николаю 1, но в 1920 году был демонтирован. Расположен памятник в парке Шевченко.

In the centre of Shevchenko Park is a monument dedicated to Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko who was a Ukranian poet, writer as well as someone who was politically motivated and a significant figure in Ukraine at the time. There are many monuments in the country dedicated to him, the monument I visited in Kyiv is in a prominent position close to Kyiv University and is worth a look when in the area.
