Orthodox church, built in Kiev on Podol in 1746-1748. On the western side of Zamkova Mountain on the means of the inhabitants of the Gonchary-Kozhemyaki tract. After the fire, the church was rebuilt from stone in 1811-1848. On the project of architect A. I. Melensky with the funds of residents of Vozdvizhenskaya, Degtyarnaya, Kozhemyatskaya streets. In 1984, the church carried out restoration work.

While the church itself is very impressive in a form of Siberian Baroque style it was the private bell ringing demonstration that our guide had arranged. We climbed 56 steep and narrow steps to the belfry where the bell ringer Arthur, previously a rock musician, put on a fifteen minute show that was incredible. He really grooved to the beat and had about ten bells pealing away.
