This place is a scam. The food is overpriced for what it is, the service is slow, and worst of all they charge a service fee just to sit down - and they don't mention or post that fee anywhere, you don't know until the bill comes. When I pointed out to our waitress that the check includes a 10% service fee, but also that the check states tipping is optional, she told me "well, it's documented, and it's our right to charge service." When I asked her in what documents is that policy located, she said that "lots of restaurants do this." When I asked where the sign noting such a charge is posted in-line with Ukrainian consumer protection law, she told me "I've been to France, they do the same." When I told her I don't care about France she just got more upset and basically tried to equate the fact that I'm a foreigner with it somehow being fine charging me a fee that I would not have noticed if I was not able to read Russian, just because some French restaurant charged her a service fee once upon a time. In short, it was pretty clear that the rationale in her mind was "whatever, let the rich tourists pay." The interior decorating is nice enough, music is pretty good, the food is not special, you can get cutlets, shnitzel, and french fries all over town that are better and cost less. I cannot recommend visiting this place.
