Service description
COVID-19 coronavirus antigen determination (15 minutes)
The COVID-19 coronavirus antigen (Ag) test is a new testing method for the early diagnosis of coronavirus infection. The COVID-19 virus antigen test has high diagnostic specificity (99.8%) and sensitivity (91.4%). The rapid antigen test is used as a preliminary screening test during the first days of illness, when virus concentration in the nasopharynx is highest. The test should be taken at the first symptoms of the disease: 1 to 10 days after the onset of symptoms. Results are available within 15 minutes. Testing is performed directly in front of the patient. The biospecimen used for testing is a nasal swab (nasopharyngeal swab).
Detection of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus RNA (PCR, qualitative determination)
The PCR test is used to diagnose the novel coronavirus infection. Its high sensitivity of 99.9% allows it to detect the virus in the body before symptoms of illness appear. For accurate results, it is recommended to take the test 3-5 days after suspected exposure. The test requires a swab from the mouth and nose. The test is completed within 24 hours.
Determination of IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (ELISA, semi-quantitative determination), turnaround time: 24-48 hours
The presence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) in the blood against CoV-2019 indicates a previous infection and recovery; this level indicates immunity. IgG is detectable in the blood approximately 17–28 days after infection.
Determination of IgM antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (ELISA, semi-quantitative determination), turnaround time: 24-48 hours
The presence of IgM antibodies in the blood indicates that the patient was recently infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. IgM antibodies can be detected no earlier than 7-15 days after exposure to the virus (no earlier than 5 days after the onset of symptoms). This test result is the basis for a more accurate diagnosis, and a PCR test is recommended.
