Holter ECG monitoring (daily ECG monitoring, Holter ECG) is a method of electrophysiological instrumental diagnostics, which consists of long-term recording of ECG under conditions of the patient’s daily activity, followed by analysis of the resulting recording.
Indications for Holter monitoring are the following situations:
- Violation of the rhythm and conduction of the heart.
- Early detection of myocardial ischemia – in men over 35 years of age and women over 40 years of age, it is performed once a year, in cardiac patients – once every six months.
- Monitoring antiarrhythmic therapy.
- Monitoring anti-ischemic therapy (before treatment and three weeks after).
- With concomitant syndromes and conditions (thyroid diseases, thyrotoxicosis; high cholesterol).
- For expectant mothers at any stage (one-time).
- In athletes to detect fatal rhythm disturbances.
