Service description
The first pharmaceutical establishment in Kiev.
In 1728, the German Johann Geyter opened the first private pharmacy in Kiev in Podol near Andriyivsky Uzviz, a patent for which he received by decree of Emperor Peter II. The pharmacy existed for about 110 years, until 1835, after which the house was sold and passed from hand to hand. In 1983, the restoration and creation of a pharmacy-museum began in this room, the opening of which took place in 1986.
The collection of the museum has more than 50,000 exhibits - pharmacy furniture of the 18th - 19th centuries, Samples of pharmacy dishes from different eras, fragments of manuscripts from the times of Kievan Rus, Russian, Polish pharmacopoeia of the 19th - 20th centuries, Textbooks on medicine and therapy of those times, recipe magazines, personal archival materials of Kiev pharmacists. An exposition telling about the history of medicine and pharmacy is located in the underground:
- Hall-cave.
- Christian hall.
- House of the healer.
- Wine Vault.
- Alchemist's laboratory.
